Net Zero | Salt Lake City, UT

First Salt Lake City Net Zero Project

”We are committed to supporting the environment and to reducing our energy consumption by building a high-performance home that would realize these benefits; and ultimately save us money on our utility bills and creating a more comfortable and healthy home. We didn‘t realize we would be challenged to find an appraiser who could recognize the value and could apply a “green” premium for the higher building costs associated with a net-zero home until we started our loan process. In addition, we had other complex factors that further complicated our loan qualification.

Working with the Green Energy Money (GEM) and The Federal Savings Bank teams helped us to realize a recognized green premium for the value of our home. This increase created a cost benefit, with a lower interest rate, due to the lower loan-to-value. They understood our issues and were able to attain an acceptable loan approval and term. We are very satisfied with the results GEM‘s appraisal analytics and methods, and SNMC‘s appraisers and underwriters, achieved and would highly recommend these companies to anyone seeking financing for their high-performance home.”
